A number of major roads beyond the United kingdom will see their speed limits cutting to reduce road danger and save lives. Transport for London take unveiled plans to introduce about 10 miles of new lower speed limit schemes beyond the majuscule.

A 20mph limit typically covers an individual or a small number of streets and requires signs only.

Areas with 20mph zones use traffic calming measures to reduce build of vehicles and cover large areas which crave both signs and markings.

Speaking about the new changes, Lilli Matson, Primary Health, Safety and Environment Officer at TfL, praised the new speed limits.

She said: "We are determined to eliminate deaths and serious injuries from London's roads in line with our Vision Zero goal.

"Ensuring the condom of Londoners and visitors is paramount, which is why we are working to lower speed limits on our road network in inner and outer London.

"Millions of walking and cycling journeys are made across London every solar day and people are much more likely to exist killed or seriously injured if striking at 30mph than if a vehicle is travelling at 20mph or less.

"The new 20mph speed limits will not only relieve lives but volition too encourage Londoners in these communities to travel in more agile and sustainable ways.

"We're committed to eliminating unsafe speeds and dangerous driving across our network and are working closely with our Metropolitan Law partners to ensure the new speed limits are robustly enforced."

Councillor Peter McDonald, chair of Cambridgeshire County Council's Highways and Transport Commission, said: "20mph schemes are a proven manner to improve road safety, which is why the Joint Assistants is adamant to introduce more than of them across the county.

"Yous cannot put a cost on rubber, just we are besides conscious that whatever scheme delivers value for money.

Towns and cities in Essex and Blackburn are also expected to bring the new measures in.
